Anyone for Trestle?

The latest "craze" with the "kids" will come as a surprise to nobody apart from the sane - yes, it's Tetris Arm Wrestling of course, or "Tresling" as the youth know it. Such an obvious idea it's almost too simple to explain, Tresling is the perfect marriage of an early Russian video game with the ancient sport of arm wrestling, where each twitch of the arm is translated to the movement of a falling block on screen. Engadget have a tournament video here.

Tresling looks set to join the growing pantheon of physical/gaming cross-overs, including Tron Tennis, Galaxian Pole-Vault, and Naked Pacman.

Game on

Games are nice aren't they? A little something to while away the time, a gentle amusement, a bit of fun.

Once upon a time Planet Boinng had a games room, full of such fun-sized entertainments, and now those happy days are back again - yes, the games room has returned. Pootle on over to http://www.boinng.com/games to pick from a growing collection of java-based goodies, including a couple of old favourites from the olden days. Enjoy Smiling

Wee Wii

It's kind of interesting that while the latest "next gen" console war was largely predicted to be a straight duel between the two hardware heavyweights, Sony's PS3 and Microsoft's Xbox360, it's actually the relatively underpowered little Nintendo Wii that looks set to take the winner's belt, at least in terms of sales.

gamey

As some of you know (Smiling) we're playing this wonderful game at http://www.boinng.com/game - the games room. I've noticed some of the regular members not playing along, and although ofcourse nobody's forcing them, I just wanted to say that everybody's welcome to join at any time! Ofcourse you'd have to start with 0 points (well actually 1 point once you sent me back the answers to my question list) but at the moment even Jayne has less than 20 points (19 Sticking out tongue) so everything's still possible Eye-wink And wouldn't we all like to beat Jayne? Eye-wink

More time?

So I realised that I hadn't send out the "there was a new assignement posted" messages... I know I'm crap, but you should really keep up with the forums Sticking out tongue Anyways I havent gotten *any* pictures in yet (though some who liked cats/dogs messages), so maybe I should give all of you some more time? Because the "official" deadline for the cats/dogs thing is next Monday, do you want like a week more time or something?

Scores

I'll use this topic to keep track of the scores (though it's not just here for me, feel free to comment etc Smiling).
This first post will include everyone who's filled in the list, so everyone who's going to play along. The first one to send me back his answers was D-man, so at least until the first assignment he'll be on top Eye-wink
I'll update this post every time i recieve answers.

D-man : 1

The assignments will involve all kind of things, you'll be able to use your creativity, your social capacities in real life as well as online, your ability to find solutions to given problems... But ofcourse it'll all be just a lot of fun Laughing out loud

To start things off, every member has to fill in a list of questions. Just send me a private message or write a reply to this topic, and I will send the list to you. Once you send the answers back to me, you are an official player of the GBG! From then on your mission will be to score as many points as possible, leaving the others far behind you. Just for filling in the list alone you will earn one point, isn't that awesome?

Horror in the streets of Azeroth

According to BBC News, a plague has struck within the worldwide online game World of Warcraft.

An uncontrolled disease is slowly killing off the populace, with no cure in sight. Given the medieval setting of WoW, physicians are attempting to stem the tide of death with leeches and hot irons, but to no avail.

Xbox 2

Technical specs have been leaked about Xbox 2 or "Xenon" as it is codenamed. Weighing in with 3 3 GHz PowerPC cores, a GPU that is "beyond the ATI X800" and 256mb of RAM (the current Xbox has 64mb) the machine seems to have the necessary hardware to take us to the next generation of gaming.

More capable hardware has come out in the past, but has fallen to the wayside. Machines like Neo-Geo had loads of power for their time, but didn’t have the developer support that the SNES and Sega Genesis had and eventually failed miserably.

Will this be the case for the upcoming system? More than likely not, considering the current developer support they have for their current system, one would expect that support to carry over to the newer system to be released Q4 of '05.
