My turn now

You may remember a while ago, Tim making certain people jealous by telling us all about his new Ericsson T39 mobile phone. Well, now it's my turn. I'm too tired to tell you all about my new T68i, so go and take a look at it in full colour glory here (second from the left in the row of phones)
I got a rather sweet deal, but I'm too tired to tell you more than that I paid less than a third of the normal price for phone+mp3 player for phone+3 months insurance for phone... so yes, I was happy
be happy with me ![]()

Re: My turn now
That's a nice phone, I kind of had that one lined up as my next one.. but then I saw this - http://www.sonyericsson.com/P800/
probably be old hat by the time i can afford it tho..
Re: My turn now
yeh, saw that in a catalogue, nice phone, expensive and who knows what it'll be like since they're cramming a lot in. Could be poo ya know.
Re: My turn now
Well done you
Although...
"T68i's five-dimensional joystick makes drawing pictures in your phone easy."
Uhm... five dimensions? Could someone explain that to me? I have a grasp of the basic 4, but the fifth eludes me...
Re: My turn now
erm.. might not be? looks pretty good to me..
Re: My turn now
up, down, left, right, and in (it's a button)..
Re: My turn now
Yes, but the t68 (not the i) had a lot of problems because of what the phone was trying to do. They fixed a lot of the bugs in the t68i. All I'm saying is that it might be pretty buggy when it's first released, that's all.
Re: My turn now
all my phones have been buggy, why should this be any different? to be honest i'm hoping sony's influence may improve ericsson's performance there (note the t68 is pre-merger, and the t68i came after)..
Re: My turn now
But that's only 4!
X (left, right)
Y (up, down)
Z (in - button function)
...and T, naturally.
Re: My turn now
(Of course, if they'd said five-directional...
Re: My turn now
how much did you pay for this phone cat? i read its 500 €... are you people mad?
Re: My turn now
and no, i didnt read your last paragraph before i wrote that.
so
i'll rephrase. tim, if you're honestly thinking about buying a phone for 500€ when you have a perfectly good one that's only 1 year old, you're mad. MAD i tell you!
Re: My turn now
nobody would pay that here- all these handsets are heavily subsidised by the networks, so they can sign people up to contracts. when i got my T39 a year ago, i only paid £35 for the actual phone- a lot less than i would have paid for it direct from Ericsson- on condition that i signed up to a twelve month airtime contract with Vodafone.
although on paper the phone was mine as soon as i left the shop, the reality is that i and every other contract phone user are paying for the priviledge of having such nice cheap phones in the form of slightly inflated line rentals- so, i figure, once the twelve month obligation is up you are actually cheating yourself if you don't go get yourself the latest nice phone on the block- otherwise you are paying a premium for nothing.
my contract just came up, so i'm free to go shopping; the only thing is, i still like the t39 and i haven't seen anything i particularly want to swap it for. since the networks don't want you to take advantage of their subsidy every year they try and charge you for upgrading your existing phone, so you end up having to change your number and contract, which is a drag (how can it be cheaper to do that? surely that makes far more work for the network?) so at the moment i'm still considering my options...
Re: My turn now
ok, that's an acceptable explanation
