Sadly, we seem to be getting targetted by increasingly clever spam-bots at the moment, intent on filling up our hallowed pages with lots of lovely links to viagra, goats, plasticine, or whatever else they're obsessed with. Too many are slipping through the net for my liking, so I've had to take drastic action - from now on, new users will have to go into an approval queue and wait for me to decide they're human, before they can log in and post.

Of course, since we never get any new users anyway, it probably won't be too much of a hardship... but I really don't like the fact that, just because some unscrupulous sods want a cheap way to advertise their various brands of misery, real people have to jump through an extra hoop just to say hello, and inevitably won't bother. Such is the unstoppable decline of civillisation... personally, I blame hip-hop.

The Rise of the Spambot is really starting to ruin self registration-based online communities. We stopped taking registrations for the Secret 7000 board a few weeks ago, when there were 4-5 spambots a day registering.

This is why Kitten Auth needs to be taken on board by the internet in general.
