Cellphones are doing it for themselves
The prospect of a completely free mobile telephone network has become possible with the development of a peer to peer phone system, using mobile phones to route calls through other phones in the network - without the need for the usual base stations.
The adapted phones automatically connect to every other phone in the immediate (one kilometre) vicinity, forming a dispersed network that can carry voice calls independently, for as far as there are other phones in use - and since the network is entirely collaborative between the users themselves, the calls are completely free. Provided there are enough of the adapted phones in use in the area, this effectively makes the traditional mobile network redundant - which is bad news for messrs Vodafone, O2, T-Mobile, et al.
At the moment the technology is being trialled by a Swedish company in remote African regions where installing base stations is impractical, but in time the same features could find their way into standard mobiles in the Western market. Wouldn't we all be able to
Wouldn't we all be able to hear each others conversations???

Imagine it's a Thursday and you're downloading some material to which you own the copyright on KCEasy, and someone else is downloading some other material to which they own the copyright at the same time - both of your computers are part of the network over which those two files are being transferred, but you still only end up with your chosen file each. The conversations would work the same way
I see. I ALWAYS own the
I see. I ALWAYS own the copyright.
hmmm
i wonder when someone will invent a cell-chip to be implanted just behind the ear. with the new peer to peer network idea it might be right around the corner..
(p.s. i hate cell phones - gave mine up long ago!!)
you gave up your... you
you gave up your... you don't have a... no, sorry, does not compute!
I think the only problem with a cell-chip is that they're still not entirely sure it's safe to hold a mobile against your head, let alone inside your head.. but radiation aside, I love 'em
I'm not bothered by actually
I'm not bothered by actually making calls on my mobile, i just like to text and it to look nice really!
