Members of Petersfield Hi-Lights Society were tonight said to be, "...truly gutted.", to be announcing to arriving audience members that tonight's performance of Calamity Jane would not now be taking place due to a fire in offices above the Town Hall Chambers section of Petersfield Festival Hall. The building was quickly evacuated and there were no casualties.
Both performances for Saturday are also cancelled, as the building cannot even be entered until Sunday, much less performed in.
But do please watch this space......
UPDATE!!!
CALAMITY JANE WILL BE RETURNING IN NOVEMBER!!!
Woo!

It's such a shame, I hope to
It's such a shame, I hope to see Calamity Jane return to the stage very soon!
Tis a real a shame for
Tis a real a shame for everyone involved, including the five of us that were coming to see you on Saturday. I hope they can fix up the lovely old Festival Hall very soon, and make Calamity Jane the opening show.
I'd planned my whole weekend
I'd planned my whole weekend around it.
Saturday Morning: Drive down.
Saturday Lunchtime: Pick up some old SF magazines I won in an auction.
Saturday Evening: Calamity Strikes!
Sunday Morning: Meet Friends.
Sunday Afternoon: Meet other friends.
Sunday Evening: Drive back up.
In the end I spent Saturday evening uploading photos, stroking Mum's cat, and chatting on IM. Hope I'm free in Novemember!
.
I could say something extremely insulting at this point, possibly mentioning what I had planned for Saturday!!!
However, because your plans were mainly to do with supporting ME, I'll let you off, just this once!
You planned your whole weekend around it, I have planned the last 4 months around it!!!
And other such whining......
Well I feel sorry for you
Well I feel sorry for you Dave, if it helps I spent the evening watching a girlie film that Lisa had recorded, all about shoes and weddings and suchlike.
Which I secretly enjoyed.
Sorry about that. Should
Sorry about that. Should have said that my troubles were little in comparison.
Really glad no-one was hurt.
Do they know what caused it yet?
I'm convinced it was just a
I'm convinced it was just a really serious outbreak of Awkward Appropriateness.
I mean really, of all Jayne's shows that could be interrupted by a fiery catastrophe, it had to be Calamity Jane?
Calamity?
Jane??
"What's that show you had that big calamity with, Jayne?"
"Oh, you mean Calamity Jane?"
"Yes, the calamity Jayne, which one was it?"
I know it's too soon, but I just can't help myself. The boys on the board need answers, fast.
.
Fecking good publicity for our new society too! (Hi-Lights and Operatic are merging, as of next month!)
I'm the last leading lady of the old and am set to be the first of the new. Most apt I think, as my parents were founder members of hi-lights and I shall be a founder member of the new society.
