Behold a new petersfield site has risen

I'm trying to kick a new site into life to celebrate the fabulous richness and diversity of the Petersfield life (www.myPetersfield.co.uk). Probably aimed at a rather more ageing hipster than this excellent site (that's certainly where it's coming from) but, I venture, perhaps worth a look anyway. Comments welcome, either through the site or here. When I get my links together, I'll certainly be referencing Boinng - maybe Boinng could return the favour (he wheedled)?

Looks good! Petersfield's
Looks good! Petersfield's been in dire need of dedicated site for a long time (there was one once - http://www.petersfield-online.co.uk - but that's long dead). I've been dithering about doing one myself for years, but never got around to it... Anyway, stay in touch, and do feel free to link to Boinng
I'm sure we can work out some reciprocal arrangement... have you considered using any sort of CMS (content management system) like this one? They're a lot easier to use than they seem sometimes..
Thanks for those few kind words...
Your content management looks very good - accessible, intuitive, all those good things. What do you use or would recommend ? Feel free to take this off line and mail me directly through myPetersfield (I've set up an account on Boinng under this name) as I doubt it's of universal interest...
Oh, everything's of interest
Oh, everything's of interest here - if you haven't worked it out yet, this site isn't actually about anything, so nothing's off topic
Boinng runs on Drupal these days - http://drupal.org - although it's previously been run on Php Nuke, and Postnuke. Of the three, Drupal is far and away the best - it's robust, easy to use, and very easy to make your own. If your hosting can support it (you need PHP and a mysql database) it's quite easy to set up and well worth playing around with..
Feel free to start up a topic in the Webmeister forum if you want to chat some more about the options?
am VERY excited to see a new
am VERY excited to see a new site about Petersfield! Now if only there was a decent pub in the town centre
thanks Lisa, this is encouraging...
as you'll have seen, I'm no big fan of the town centre pubs. Maybe it's a regional thing - there are few good town centre pubs anywhere (Midhurst? Chichester?). Most of the best ones are to be found out in the countryside. But what about the Good Intent? Seems like a good honest boozer to me and does its best with food and music...
Any comments that you feel like hacking into the myPetersfield site will be used and (if you like) credited...
..
The Drum is very nice now.
I shall check it out...
In what way nice ? Provide examples...
I shall
when I'm not rushing off for my supper. I'll give you proper info. I also practically grew up in The Harrow.
The Drum has improved, it
The Drum has improved, it has a jukebox now (that actually works), better use of space and people running it that have actually seen a pub before in their lives, unlike the last lot, but it's not great. There's just something about it that makes me feel a bit uncomfortable....
Having said that you can find us there most Saturday nights!
The Harrow is great....
... as you'll see from the relevant page. http://www.mypetersfield.co.uk/pubs.htm. Add some comments and I'll paste them in. Any background, little-known facts, hygiene scandals or other insider gen also gratefully received.
Good stuff...
... thanks. Can I use your comments ?
My comments? yep feel free
My comments? yep feel free to use any of my drivel!
