Enjoyed this a lot - it was dark, edgy, original, and all the other things which RTD (OBE) scripts are supposedly incapable of being. I loved how the usual assumptions were overturned here, with the doctor's confident attempts to assume authority backfiring badly, leaving him at the mercy of a mob who really challenged his usual faith in humanity, only redeemed at the end by an individual just as nameless as himself.
The "thing" itself went completely unexplained for once, and there were more questions than answers at the end. With little CGI to fall back on (aside from pretty planetscapes) it was all about the acting, that fear in the eyes, and that eerie vocal trickery - a simple but brilliant idea. For what seemed at first to be a bit of a filler episode, very nearly excellent.

I bloody loved it! Some fantastic acting and having then seen how it was all done, I'm doubly impressed.
I usually like RTD's scripts anyway, but he took a different, less obvious route in this and it was particularly creepy. To see The Doctor totally helpless and then realising how truly scared he had been made me shiver a little.
I missed Donna though......
