So uh, I have a couple hundred pictures on flickr (and love the site) and am just wondering if anyone here uses it or anything like it (photobucket, zoomr).

TBH i just use the gallery here, but i do think online galleries generally are the way forward... i've not printed any pictures since i first got my digital camera, and i don't waste time emailing them around either, I just stick them online and point people to that - much better. I might be nervous trusting it all to some other site I didn't own tho...

What do you think they are
What do you think they are going to do with it? Or not do with it? I think paying someone $25 a year to create a great interface, give me unlimited amount of picture storage with unlimited bandwidth is a pretty good deal. I dont have to worry about managing the server or databases or backing up or even security. Granted, its not a viable solution for a backup in itself, it does add another location your pictures would be if something were to happen to the ones on your home computer.

Ditto. Except with
Ditto. Except with http://jalbum.net/
That was I can use my mate's webserver without SQL.
And since there's a picture of me in Drag, there's a no-robots on it, and I ask every one who knows about it not to post links
Plus it's a bugger to
Plus it's a bugger to download them all from flikr.
Well,
If flickr is the last resort to get all your pictures back that you lost, its better than nothing.

I've got some stuff on deviantArt:

A mix of photos and other stuff I've done.

I'd just hate to build up a big gallery with them, and start to rely on them as a backup, and then have them do a Diary-X and disappear, or start charging extra premiums, or cover every third picture with an advert or something.. It's a risk with any third party, even with my webhost, but at least my host lets me have complete access to all the files etc and I'm not locked in to anything.

I thought about that too,
I thought about that too, but I figure with a company as big as Yahoo, and the amount of money and whatnot invested in this, I seriously doubt that its just going to up and vanish one day. Plus, the way I see it im sure they atleast do backups of their data, which is more than I can say that I do on my own.

I stick my photos on Fickr
I stick my photos on Fickr (http://www.flickr.com/photos/arendle/) since it's an easy way of sharing them, plus I keep my own archive on my PC.
