recent comments list (front page)
maybe i'm just holding on to the old site too much, but i would like to see, for the recent posts list, just one entry for each thread, if you follow? because now, it shows each post from a thread as it's own link, but if you click on one, you can read them all. so it just seems kind of redundant. especially since i dont pay attention to post titles and end up clicking on something i've already read.
i would also like to see the same type of mouseover for those links that we had before -- the ones that said who was the last person to post and/or the number of comments. because it's hard to tell if you've read everything associated with that thread or not... you cant tell if there are new comments.

it doesn't work in quite the way i'd like either, but the recent comments list is quite powerful in a sense, in that it includes posts to any and every type of content on the site, be that blog, forum, news etc.. the separate recent posts page (as linked in the menu) is bit more like you want, as that shows unique threads only in order of last comment. I agree it would be nice to have those mouseovers again, or some other way of telling who'd written what, but i've got a bit of a learning curve to go through with Drupal's official API before i can tinker to much with that kind of thing

i'm pretty sure it does that already - any comments which are new to you should have "new" next to them... difficult to test that at the moment tho, on account of the hot weather i think

hmm.. i think maybe you're right, tho looking at the code i think it probably ought to! anyway, i've replaced it now with a new "live discussions" block.. this one groups everything by topic (or "node" in drupal parliance), and shows you the number of comments.. remains to be seen whether it shows them as new tho...
