MickyBoinng's blog
Over 3 years since I last posted a blog, but I feel in the mood..
Submitted by MickyBoinng on Sat, 15/12/2007 - 06:47.... I just clicked the "render" button for the presentation version of The Forest II, which we will be showing in Liverpool tomorrow. It's been a long time coming.
Soon...very soon...
Submitted by MickyBoinng on Sun, 28/03/2004 - 10:51....soon, I will have my bandwidth on the Big M back, and I will not force all Boinng visitors to read the ins and outs of my little student life.
Recent events in said little student life: it's been decided that Liam Craddock and I will take over the archery club next year, with him as captain, and me as vice captain. I've also started work on a new archery website, which with any luck will supersede the one in place which was created by my girlfriend last year.
Yes, I now have a girlfriend . Funny life, isn't it?

Fuck me.
Submitted by MickyBoinng on Mon, 22/03/2004 - 01:48.As some may know, I'm now an employee of the legendarily cheap chain pub Wetherspoons. I've been working five nights in a row now, and it's kicking my ass. I say 'nights' but I mean from around 3-4 onwards, until finishing which tends to be around 1. It was a little later today because of an absolutely pointless 'staff meeting' - discussing the ammount of beer in the drip tray. For 45 minutes. The only good thing to come out of this was a free lager and curry.
I'm working tomorrow (Monday) too, from 5. Now, I plan on going to labs tomorrow afternoon to attempt (no doubt in futility) to catch up on some of the practical work I've missed out on. Then straight off to Wetherspoons for a wonderful action-packed night. As soon as another job comes up, I'm taking it.
The next respite I get is Tuesday. There's uni, and then after I'll be spending the evening at the house of a young lady I'm getting rather close to at the moment, which will be sweet, sweet relief from filling pint glasses. I much prefer emptying them.

I've not posted in a while
Submitted by MickyBoinng on Tue, 09/03/2004 - 01:17....so I'll make this post about archery. I like archery, and have recently spent around £200 on equipment. On Wednesday, I'm having a showdown with archery captain Kay to see who can be the first to break the 500 barrier. Who will it be? My money's on Kay since I've moved to a new bow recently and Kay's got a year's worth of experience on top of me, but that said, I've pulled a few tricks out of the bag and surprised people with my shooting before.
Wel shall see!

The title is enough to fool anyone - the first, horribly buggy and slow game Staytin Alive, was a tron-style snake racing game, the idea of which was to 'Stay Alive' longer than anyone else. This new game, Stayin Alive 2, also involves you stayin' alive, but this time in .....
the Breakout arena. Yes, yet another Breakout clone! And it won't be a fat lot different than all the other ones either. But still, it makes me happy.
Wobble flip.
Am I really turning into an alcoholic?
Submitted by MickyBoinng on Thu, 12/12/2002 - 16:01.I was at work today at the pub, and whilst there was no one in and I was very bored, I drank a 50 ml measure of Baileys with a shot of Jack D's in, a measure of cognac, and half a pint of ale. And this was at lunchtime too.
Jeez, I'm starting to worry myself
Return
Submitted by MickyBoinng on Thu, 12/12/2002 - 01:21.After not visiting Boinng much because of ... well...no particular reason, I decided to come back and join in it all again. So here's my journal.
Today I did Nothing. Which is what I tend to do a lot of now that I'm on my doss-year aka gap-year. I do work in a pub (the Blacksmiths Arms, in Alton, on the way to Alton Towers, can't miss it : come in for a pint if you're in the area) but on my days off I tend to live in a sleeping bag because there's not much to do. I am programming, of course. But I did lose a couple of months worth of work when my hard drive failed - I've started a different project. And I;ve beencoming up with ideas for a new website which I might launch.
So, life's pretty full. Of nothing. It's 1:20 AM now, and I've just brewed another whole pot of tea for me to drink by myself.
Some people are weird

Arcadia
Submitted by MickyBoinng on Sun, 03/03/2002 - 20:04.Just remebered this :|
The other day, I was in a school play. Tom Stoppard's Arcadia. We have had a couple of months to rehearse, and it was all so badly organised, I was surprised the teachers let us do it in the state it was in. And here's the worrying thing:
It worked.
It went nearly perfectly smoothly. And Arcadia, if anyone knows it, is NOT an easy play to get right. But we had the exact right people doing the exact right part. I played two parts, Gus Coverly and Augustus Coverly. Gus is an autistic dumb genius, who is in love with another character called Hannah. Augustus is another character nearly 200 years previously (it's a confusing play) who is there to link Gus to the past.
It was one night only, but I want to do it again. The adrenaline rush was amazing. A lot of people told me I did my character perfectly. Oh, what I wouldn't give to do just one more showing! I've not experienced that before.

Read it! I loved every minute of it.
Thomasina - Is carnal embrace...like love?
Septimus - Oh no, it's much nicer than that.
Long live Arcadia!
