New additions to the Cook family

On Saturday Tim and I had a lady come round to our flat assess whether we are suitable to home some cats from a rescue centre. Turns out we are an excellent (her words!) home for two cats so yesterday we popped over to the centre to choose our new cats!

So we now have George and Archie living with us. They are around 8 months old and are VERY nervous. So much so that if you go near them they hiss at you! It makes my heart break that all the lovely cats in the centre were all treated so badly/not wanted that now they don't have homes and owners who love them to look after them. George and Archie have a brother too who we had to leave behind but the man at the centre tells us that it's probably best for him anyway as he will get more attention to himself - i hope he gets homed soon.

Anyway, so George and Archie have come to live with us and hopefully as time goes on won't be so petrified of us (although having seen Tim first thing in the morning i can't blame them!) and might actually enjoy a cuddle and purr for probably the first time in their lives.

The black and white one is George and the grey is Archie. They had a brother that we had to leave behind but he is very handsome so someone should want him soon hopefully!

More pictures will follow if we EVER get the internet at home!! How it takes them 10-15 working days to swtich on a button is beyond me but thats another issue!

aww, they look so lovely! I think it's great you're taking those poor cats in your home Smiling And no doubt they'll start to know and trust you guys!

I used to have a cat that didn't seem to care much about me (as most cats), but after he got injured he was too afraid to walk into our own garden unless I was there too Smiling I guess they can feel it if they can trust you, but probably don't like showing affection Eye-wink

Anyways the best of luck with george and archie, and let us know how they're doing from time to time!

hello kittens! welcome, not only to the Cook household, but to the entire boinng family!

they really are adorable. it's a bit sad you had to leave their brother, but i'm sure it's for the best in the end. are you guys actually adopting them and they'll be yours forever? or are you fostering them until they can find proper homes? or?

They are ours forever if we can get them to like us! We let them out of their pen thing the rescue centre lent us this morning - that turned out to be a mistake! An hour and a half later Tim has just got them back in the cage again!

A little... they're a lot more confident now and they've been exploring the living room a bit. We're still keeping them in the cage most of the time because they're still more likely to run away and hide from us than actually get to know us, but in the cage they're getting a lot friendlier and more approachable (if only as a means to sidle past us and start exploring the flat again...)
